A couple Tulsa-area bloggers are spreading the word about this site. One is the MeeCiteeWurkor site, which features some politics and some whimsy. The other is Batesline, which is a mix of local politics, faith-based musings, whimsy and plenty of other stuff. Batesline has been particularly good about letting others know about the El Vado Motel’s plight.

When I started this site a week ago, I had no idea I’d gather this much material so quickly. But I knew there was a need for Route 66-related news in one place, so I tried to fill that need.

MeeCiteeWurker helped find me a free WordPress invitation, and Michael Bates of Batesline answered my questions about blogging. Readers of those blogs are welcome to climb aboard here, too. On Route 66, the more, the merrier.

I only read about a half-dozen blogs. So if anyone else is linking to this site, please let me know.

Here’s Cow Bop’s journal entry from their show at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame on Thursday. Sounds like the group and Chuck Cissel had a blast making music together.

Of course, if I received free nights at the Route 66 Hotel in Springfield, Ill., a meal at the Cozy Dog, and visited with Bill Shea at his gas station museum, that would lift my spirits, too.

Dennis Kinch’s latest journal entry is here.

He’s walked 267 miles and is in Hamel, Ill. He has 2,182 miles to go.
