The About.com Web site has details about Mattel toys coming from Pixar Animation Studios‘ Route 66 film, “Cars,” to be released June 9.
Below are some character assortment toys. FYI: The sheriff’s car is voiced by Michael Wallis, who wrote “Route 66: The Mother Road” and is technical adviser for the film.
This is the Fast-Talkin’ Lightning McQueen toy, which has animated eyes, a moving mouth, can be programmed for 15 tricks and can say more than 30 phrases.
Here are Zip Sticks Racers.
This is a Later Mater game, in which players must race the clock to put the rickety Mater tow truck back together.
Finally, here is the Mountain Challenge Playset: “Kids will have fun recreating all of the excitement from the Disney/Pixar movie set by making it past the wagon wheel that spins randomly from this moving playset. They have to control the lever to make it past and over the bridge without getting thrown off the ‘mountain.’ Kids will love loading several favorite CARS character cars onto the mountain and watch it shake with crazy action. Look out for that wacky spin-out curve, every time the cars go around, something different happens. The Mountain Challenge playset comes with one ‘Willy’s Butte’ deco Lightning McQueen die-cast car.”
That mountain, by the way, will remind many Route 66ers of Oatman Road in western Arizona.

Some of the toys will be making their way your usual big-box stores this month. Others won’t be on sale until May or June, shortly before the movie comes out.
When I last checked, bigbadtoystore.com and 3000toys.com both were taking orders on several “Cars” toys.
Lightning McQueen is the hottest! And it’s no wonder why! He’s voiced by Mr. Hottie himself, Owen Wilson. Mmmm, yeah!

The toys should be in regular retail stores like Wal-Mart and Toys-R-Us right now. They’ve been trickling into stores in the past couple weeks.
we got all of the mattel toys at target for 9.99 except the firetruck, lizzy and snot rod pack. we are still looking. also I found these same toys in Publics our local food store.

Also there is another site called http://www.toywiz.com with nothing sold out but beware expensive. Does anyone know about the playsets for the little metal Cars the movie cars. The four playsets are Luigi’s Casa Della Tires, Flo’s V8 Cafe, Lizzie’s Curio Shop, & Ramone’s Body Shop. Well anyway at toywiz.com they have Flo’s V8 Cafe for FIFTY BUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I could get it at toys r us for 25.00.
Rumor has it that the Mattel Disney CARS will be discontinued after the November release of the movie so that the new CARS (Buzz & Woody & Hamm, Mike & Sully, young Doc Hudson Hornet, Yellow Ramone, plain McQueen, Red Ferrari, Guido & Luigi in Ferrari gear and Young Mater) can be released. I don’t know if this is true but would appreciate any information. The new cars can be seen @ Toywiz.com and are expected to release in January 2007.

I just picked up Yellow Ramone, Radiator Springs McQueen, The Fabulous Hudson Hornet and Sally & Cruisin McQueen through Ebay at lower prices than ToyWhiz. As for the other rare ones, i have no idea. Brand New Mater or young Mater like some people say is really hard to find and is selling on Ebay for $40. There are plenty of fake ones so please be carefull when looking at them. I have already figured out which ones are fake. ToyWhiz doesn’t even have a picture of Red Ferrari and Hamm. I think it’s just Buzz & Woody.
How do you tell if something is fake?

We live in Indianapolis and at the walmart on the East side they had all the movie moments (excluding monster trucks mike and sully)! Check on line at walmart! I would love to see the RVs from the race track too along with Frank, Bessie and all!
Frank, the mad combine has only been spotted so far in a game called Tractor Tipping or something like that. It’s a board game. It’s tiny, but it was a great surprise to find him in there. If I find the exact name, I’ll post it tomorrow.

The only NEW cars in circulation are the mike and sulley movie moments and the Luigi and Guido Ferrari Fan movie moments. The only one (Reported anyway) that should be out sometime mid to late Feb is the Ferrari.
Every kid I know of wants Frank more than any of the other character. Seems like Mattel is missinng the boat on this one.

Thanks Ron, my son and I watched the movie at least 50 times, and didn’t see the closing credits too many times. My wife bought when she saw them them because we have every car available from the show, and several of many of them and all the playsets…. The new ones will be great. I wonder if they will make Frank..or Henry?

My son would be in seventh heaven with a die case Frank or Mack. I can’t believe they’ve made Buzz and Woody before they made Frank and Mack! Right now we’re making do with a 1:32 die cast/plastic SIKU 4251 red Massey Ferguson combine! He calls it Frank, and thats really all that matters

I’m not sure. But I grew up on a farm, Eliza, and the red color makes it look like an International Harvester or a Massey-Ferguson.
There are about 10 or 11 Franks selling on ebay right now. Not cheap but maybe worth it.
Those who are interested in a “make do” Frank. Google “siku 4251″ and check it out. It is a 1:32 scale, die cast and plastic, RED, massey ferguson combine harvester with the grass cutter head on it. Not terribly cheap, and of course it doesn’t have eyes (maybe you could glue some on?) but it works well in every other regard. My 3 year old son *loves* this “Frank”.

bessie is coming out as part of a playset. There is only one website in the entire web that states this. She will be part of a new series that is released in may or june 2007. Frank is not part of this group unfortunately. i did see a custommade Frank on Ebay that looked very good. You just have to search for it. Hope this helps some.

Frank is the Boba Fett of the Pixar universe- only on the screen for a very limited time, but his following is huge!

My husband and I loved the movie CARS. So, for Christmas 2006, I bought him all the usual die-cast CARS guys (and gals) in sets — except Frank or Bessie, sorry — before Christmas, on the Disney Shopping Website disneyshopping.com and they were ON SALE! Since this was a Disney/Pixar film, why hasn’t anybody else thought to look to Disney for these cars? Yes, I know Disney can be expensive, but there is also a Disney Outlet Website and they often have big sales (up to 75% off) on both Websites. Also, if you buy over a certain amount, you can often get free shipping. I did ALL my Christmas shopping there for 2006, and got free shipping on most of it (and saved the cost of gas driving around — and the holiday crowds, etc.). Sorry I didn’t write any of this information sooner, but just came across this site as I was planning our Route 66 vacation for fall 2007. I don’t know if Disney still has CARS cars, but they may. I talked to Mattel this morning. Apparently a “tractor tippin” set was made in February that included a “Frank”, the customer service rep said that they should be hitting the stores soon but she didnt know what name it would be under. It will be a 3 pack of cars. The Mattel product number is L2559. Hope it helps! If anyone finds them please email me, my son is obsessed with Frank!

If you read the last several messages, you’ll see that this thread is now about people trying to find a Frank toy, not the rest of the gang. He’s hard to find because no one makes him, including Disney. The messages way up the page about people looking for the other cars are from early/mid 2006 when the movie was just being released.
Vicki - SCORE! Thanks for sharing that fantastic info! I’m going to bookmark a few toy sites and start checking them daily. One day in the next couple of months hopefully Mr Frank will pop up. It is so encouraging that you even got a product number.. that means he’s not just a “maybe will be produced” but “HAS been produced”!

PVC Frank’s.. not custom made. They look great, but I’ll have a hard time paying $25 for a 2″ plastic toy, sigh. Anyone know where people are getting these from? There are about 8-10 auctions right now, from several sellers.

The Frank from the Tractor Tippin’ game doesn’t look much like the ones they are selling on eBay, Jennie. And I seriously doubt Mattel made this, as I’ve found no such product on Mattel’s or other toys Web sites. The workmanship is a tad too shoddy (example: someone messed up the paint job on one of the eyes).
I can only surmise that someone is custom-making these Franks, which explains the $25 price. When you combine making a toy out of scratch in relatively small quantities and high demand, the prices will be steep.

They are just taking them out of the Tractor tippin game. They are official disney pixar products but you can get the game for 20 dollars so I wouldn’t pay more then that for it. And it isn’t to the 1:55 scale.
Don’t buy Frank on Ebay!!! My husband purchased a “custom made Frank” and it was a rip-off, broke within minutes of being in my sons hands… then he ordered the 2″ plastic toy and I’m pretty sure its the Frank from the game, it’s small with minimal details and plastic. My son keeps saying that we need to make him bigger!

On the hunt for Bessie and Frank to make my 4yr olds day. Everyday he asks if we can go find Frank. I am glad to see I am not the only parent out there with the Frank dilema…..I keep telling him they don’t make him….he keeps insisting they do, so maybe the toy companies should take heed to what the kiddies all want!

I went in target when it open and found one of each RPM, Nitroade and Dinoco Tex. I have all the basic cars from the movie but still a long way from having them all. Lookin mainly for Bob Cutless, Darrell Cartrip, Dale Jr., Fred and Mario. My kids loves the movie and the cars and I have become addicted to finding for him and no one for my self.
I have seen the RPM car, Tex, Bling McQueen, Crusin Ramone & Tongue McQueen on E-bay. However I have not seen any in the stores. I’m in the stores in the morning and also asking the employees to bring out boxes. All are the same cars we have or seen. Has anyone purchased these in the stores yet?

Last week when I went to toys r us and got the Bling McQueen and the Tongue McQueen. I think they are making it so you will have to keep searching for them by making a limited amount of the hard to find cars.
I went to toy r us last night and found the dinco helicopter w/ mater. Not other diecast cars though. I’m just gald I found one new thing.
Keep your eyes open this Fall. There is new cars being released come fall. 4 packs and 2 packs. I don’t know who they are planning to release, but I hear there are some new ones.
Did Frank come out yet? Has anyone found Yeti? My son has been asking for these for months? I am very upset Mattel is not making these toys for the children.

I had the Cars emblem plate that came on a gift bag that my daughters bought for me on my 45th birthday. The bag was filled with some of my new Hot Wheels that I collect. Well I took my new Cars emblem to my office and a few days later it was gone. Some came into my office and took it. Where can I get a new emblem just by itself. Thanks Stan

Found Bug faced McQueen at my local Toys R Us. I seem to have the most luck there. I also got the dinco helicopter and red wheels Doc. and the new Mack play set.
Message to James…..I’m not sure if they are bringing back out Flo’s, Ramones, etc playsets. But I have a brand new Flo’s Cafe in the box…never opened it. I paid $25 for it. You can have it from $15 if are interested.

Tongue McQueen is now available at Toys R Us in a two pack with the original Lightning McQueen (new Toys R Us Exclusive item called “Movie Doubles”). Both are in a really cool package and the item is only available at Toys R Us. If you go to the toysrus.com website and type in “CARS” and hit “Search” you will find it. The full assortment includes: Tongue McQueen/Lightning McQueen, Old Mater/New Mater, Red Ramone/Purple Ramone, and Doc Hudson/Hudson Hornet. They are very hard to find in stores because they are moving quick. But, you can pre-order them now on the site.
Anyone else having there local stores pull all of the diecast cars off the shelf because of the recall? I know it is only Sarge, but Target & Toys R Us as pulled all of them off the shelves. Even the new double packs. They told me they sent everything back to Mattel!
Now I’m having to spend more $$ for them online. Anyone else having this problem?
The Toys R Us is by me is stocked full. If they are out, ask the store if they have more in the back room. They usually have a lot of inventory in the back room. They just sell so fast they have a hard time filling the shelves. I just saw new Ramones, race cars, Wingo, and even DJ.
Tampa, FL - All of the stores have pulled the toys down here. Target, Wal-Mart, Toys-R-Us, you name it. The single packs can no longer be found.
Hi Anonymous…..I’m in Tampa also. I just went to the Super Wal Mart on Bruce B Downs on Friday (9/7) We found the 2 packs with Mrs the King and the King and the Mia and Tia pack. Also found Bling McQueen , Bug McQueen, Cruisin Ramone & Tex. Try there!
(Also remember the double packs were hanging up near the bikes-they did not have them hanging up with the other car stuff (atleast they did not when I was there) Good Luck!
Slowly starting to see the single packs back on the shelves at various Wal-Marts and Targets here in Minneapolis. The reason (or at least I was told) that they had to pull all of them instead of just Sarge was that all of the single pack cars have the same SKU. They had no way of flagging just the Sarge car at the register so they pulled them all to be safe.

I agree about making Frank the combine. My 5 year old grandson is nuts about the movie plus farm equipment. Why isn’t it in the interest of the toy makers to make Frank……….can’t they see the dollar signs that parent and/or grandparents will pay. Please…..put Frank in production.
Hello, I am from the Netherlands and my 3 year old son is also a huge Cars fan just like me (his mum). We have already collected lots of items, but just like the most of you we are desperately looking for Frank and Bessie. I don’t know why but the kids just seem nuts about these 2. I tried to buy a Frank on e-bay but I am glad that I read these messages before I did. I have a contact here in the Netherlands that gets the cars directly from the USA. I just got the first 4 Walmart exclusives (Ghostlight Ramone, Cactus Mc Queen, Lightyear Blimp and the best according to my son: TJ Hummer). The next 3 or 4 (Tori Kurbowitz, Barney Stormin and Bruiser Bukowski) will be here soon. So they should also be in the Walmart stores in the USA. He also told me that Frank is on release for 2008, so there is still hope for all of us…..

You can find the CARS Mega Mack playset with 3 cars on toysrus.com (currently on sale $5 off). They also have another CARS Mack playset which is a smaller version. Both are fun sets to play with but my son loves the Mega Mack.
They also have the Piston Cup with 4 Cars, Mountain Challenge and the hard to find CARS Flo’s V8, which are all exclusively sold only at Toys R Us.
I can’t wait to get Frank the combine either!
We are also on the hunt for the new ones. I have some extra TJ, Blimp, Ghostlight Ramone, Bob Cutlass, Kori Turbowitz, Airplane, Piston cup Pace car. We are in search of #8, Mrs. & Mrs. the King, Mia & Tia. I’d be willing to trade anyone who finds those.

This is my first post. First saw the CARS diecast playsets [4 part set] and thought I might like that for a Christmas trainset, turned back around months later and wondered where they went? So, the hunt began. Thank God I found 3 of the 4 pretty quickly but I am wondering why I have no clue where the 4th could be? And I’m thinking maybe I am not hip to an “exclusive” ??? So, I might be looking in the wrong place.
I have FLO’S, RAMONE’S, and LUIGI’S. But have yet to see TILLY’S Curio Shop anywhere. Is it an exclusive?

Hi! Guys, I’m from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and have been a Cars collector, type Opener. Glad that they are so many people who like Cars.
Its not easy for me to get Cars in Malaysia, especially release like WalMart exclusive (we have no Walmarts here). Thank to Ebay I am still able to catch up with all the cars being released.
However it’s shocked/surprised to know about the Blu-Ray Lightning Dinoco McQueen. Looks like I need to pay more than $40 (about RM140, price of 120 cans of coke) to get it.
Anyway, Cars is indeed a great collections to own, despite some of the disappointments like the out-of-scale dinoco helicopter, blimps and biplane..
