The severe storms that went through the St. Louis area a few days ago damaged the former 66 Pacific Liquors sign along Route 66 in Pacific, Mo., according to Mother Road aficionado Jane Dippel.

The photo above was taken about three years ago shortly after the sign was repaired. It doesn't advertise 66 Pacific Liquors anymore, as that business is long gone.

Jane writes:

The sign is hanging upside-down. Some of the lights are broken. Two pieces of the written "historic" part are on the ground.

Word is that the Route 66 Association of Missouri and Friends of the Mother Road both want to have the sign repaired. Also, I'll see whether I can acquire any photos of the damaged sign.
