I didn't know this until today, but Elmer Long, aka The Bottletree Man of Oro Grande, Calif., has had a blog since November. I discovered his site when he linked to mine.

I'm glad he's on the Internet. I had thought that not too many people knew about him except for Route 66 aficionados and locals. But judging by his links, word is getting around.

We met Long in September. He was more than happy to show his artwork and explain how he'd obtained his materials. But he also was blue because he had recently had to put down his beloved dog. He built a small memorial for the dog just a few days before we met him.
