“Life Is a Highway” — the original August 5, 2006

I know folks are lovin’ the “Cars” soundtrack and Rascal Flatts’ pretty good version of “Life Is a Highway.” But it’s worth remembering Tom Cochran’s original from 1992, which is pretty swell, too.

the movie cars was a great movie for kids and fathers who love racing i like the original song but i think rascal flats did alot better and made it more popular than it was in 1992
That’s debatable, Eric. Tom Cochran’s original version of “Life Is a Highway” made it all the way to No. 6 on the Billboard singles chart in 1992. It was all over the radio for months.
Rascal Flatts’ version made it to No. 7.
Based on highest chart position, you give the edge to Cochran.

The original by Tom Cochran was a great song,and still is.Rascal Flatts did a great job with the song too,and there IS no better singer than the lead singer for Rascall Flatts.Most consider them country,but they can do ANY kind of music,and have a great style all their own.I dont think they ruined the song,and I’m sure Tom is very happy with the way they did the song,and happy about the royalties monies he gets from it.Remember folks,Tom had t ook it for them,and Pixar.CARS movie rocks!!

Tom Cochran composed and sang this in 1992. In those times there were still people who did sweat to perform a song; music was sung and played by humans, and had lyrics that expressed what you weren’t able to express yourself. These days there are only replicas of genial acts you HAVEN’T HEARD about (The Police, The Clash; Rush, King Crimson). Some of you were not even born back then so I won’t bother explaining more.
Who the f*ck is Rascal Flatts? Will anyone know about him in 2 years? HAHAHAHAHA
