Thanks for the mention Ron. It was great to work with the gang of volunteers on the Triangle Motel in Amarillo. Especially Emily. She is a hard worker. She made me feel bad becasue I spent so much time shooting photos of the muck being cleared out and the folks doing the REAL work.

Emily got so dirty I felt it was time to put the camera down and feel some dirt myself. I wasn’t about to let a girl from Oklahoma out-man me!

Seriously though, I hope my photos show the extent of the work that was done and the incredible amount of restoration that needs to be done. I hope you can catch a glimpse of what the Triangle Motel can become if we can get enough volunteer help and donations to bring it back alive!

I was involved in the restoration project for the historic Paramount Theatre sign on Amarillo’s downtown Polk Street which had a lot of public interest and support. Locally, the Triangle Motel is a much harder sell because of the present condition, the overall decline of East Amarillo Boulevard (the last official Route 66 in Amarillo) and a general lack of interest for Route 66 revitalization in Amarillo. At least we have the support of the Amarillo Heritage Preservation Foundation for Route 66 revitalization.

I am doing what I can to pump it up a little in Amarillo via my photos, video clips and info on http://www.zapamarillo.us ,an attempt at Web 2.0 community networking for my community. Anyone can join in with your comments and Forum postings if you wish.

Thanks for the sounding board. Every little bit helps.
