One-sixteenth of a mile of downtown Beale Street in the Route 66 town of Kingman, Ariz., will be the site of drag-racing today — everything from street-legal vehicles to alcohol-fueled monsters, according to the Daily Miner.

It’s a big deal. The organizer is expecting 10,000 spectators for the event, and proceeds will go toward building an indoor motor sports facility in the region.

Hi Ron,
I’m amazed at great blog like your Route 66 News.
Two years ago I drove from Boston to LA via Route 66 starting in Chicago it was the best time I had learning about this country of ours.
I would like to ad a link to your site from mine and mention you to blogger who is being sponsered by Ford by letting her use a hybrid SUV to take her and her crew on a five week cross contry adventure.

Thank you for the compliment.

Sure, go ahead and link. Just let me know the link of the other person driving the hybrid SUV. I drive a hybrid myself (a Honda Insight).
