		<description>WOW!  I just read the article about the Green Parrot.  My parents went there many years ago and so did I when I became of age to buy beer (1972).  Last time I was at the Green Parrot was with my sister back in 2000.  

My dad &amp; his uncle owned the old bar behind the grocery store at the SW corner of 7th &amp; Main street. Think it was sometime in the 1950&#039;s.  Used to be another beer joint between 6th &amp; 7th Street.
Can&#039;t remember the name of it, except it was next to old gravel lot
where they used to have carnivals.

I&#039;m originally from Baxter Springs.  I remember as a kid growing up in Baxter going to Kapler&#039;s, 5th Street Cottage Inn in Baxter, Roy &amp; Annes, The MileAway &amp; the old Rest-a-while.

Ah the memories of those places as I left the area in 1973.</description>
