I just read the article about the Green Parrot. My parents went there many years ago and so did I when I became of age to buy beer (1972). Last time I was at the Green Parrot was with my sister back in 2000. My dad & his uncle owned the old bar behind the grocery store at the SW corner of 7th & Main street. Think it was sometime in the 1950's. Used to be another beer joint between 6th & 7th Street. Can't remember the name of it, except it was next to old gravel lot where they used to have carnivals. I'm originally from Baxter Springs. I remember as a kid growing up in Baxter going to Kapler's, 5th Street Cottage Inn in Baxter, Roy & Annes, The MileAway & the old Rest-a-while. Ah the memories of those places as I left the area in 1973. WOW! I just read the article about the Green Parrot.
