The San Bernardino County Sun today ran a belated obituary for Bessie Burris, 91, who died on May 17. Burris was the wife of Buster Burris, who co-owned Roy’s and the Route 66 town of Amboy, Calif., for many years.

Juan Pollo restaurant chain owner Albert Okura now owns Amboy and plans to restore it. He had the full support of Bessie Burris before she died.

Its exciting to see my Families town looking like its old self again. Buster was a good man. I still don’t under stand why he did what he did. A B&B what an Idea. Albert is in Constant Contact with Bonnie Barnes the Grand Daughter to Bessie he is always keep us the family informed. I’ll have to pass the idea on. Roys does have a Kitchen. Bessie used to cook amazing meals in her days. I remember them well.
