Here’s a short video about the last surviving gas station in the once-formidable Whiting Bros. chain. It is on Route 66 in Moriarty, N.M.

saw you posted my video, thanks. what did you think? I have a lot of footage of route 66 in arizona/new mexico/texas that I am beginning to edit to put on youtube….keep checking back with the page more will come slowly but surely.
This may be the last Whiting station on 66 itself, but there are still open and operating Whiting stations (with the traditional yellow/red color motif) in St. Johns and Payson, AZ.
well for that matter the Whiting in show low is like those, but I haven’t been able to find anyone able to tell me if these are actual “whiting” stations, or just new versions of an old thing. as far as I know the Whitings moved on and got out of the gas business, most notably Michael Whiting running for Apache County Sheriff this year.
